Louis C.K. is a stand-up comedian, television writer, producer, and filmmaker. He is the star and creator of HBO's newest series, "Lucky Louie." "Lucky Louie" is HBO's first traditional sitcom.

Louis has been doing standup comedy for 20 years, since he started in the Boston Comedy club scene during his senior year of high school. Louis moved to New York City in 1990, and has been on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" several times each and headlines in comedy clubs around the country. He has also filmed three half hour standup comedy specials, one for Comedy Central and two for HBO, the latest being his "One Night Stand" which he filmed in 2005. Louis was picked by both Variety and Hollywood Reporter as a "Comic to Watch" and was in Entertainment Weekly's "It List."

Louis was one of the original staff writers for "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." He went on to write for "The Late Show with David Letterman" and was the Head Writer and producer of "The Dana Carvey Show" on ABC. Louis won an Emmy® Award for his work as a writer and producer on "The Chris Rock Show" on HBO, and has written for many other television shows.

As a filmmaker, Louis is best known for his cult classic, "Pootie Tang," which he wrote and directed. Louis' first feature film, "Tomorrow Night," an independent film that he produced, wrote, and directed, premiered at The Sundance Film Festival in 1998. Louis also made several award winning short films.

Louis has a website and a podcast of his stand-up comedy, which he continues to perform around the country as he waits for the first twelve episodes of "Lucky Louie" to hit the air.
