The charming thirtysomething -- an old flame of Patrick’s -- continues to work his way up at a barber shop.


An actor across film, television and theater, Raúl Castillo stars as the charming Richie on the acclaimed HBO series ‘Looking,’ which is in production on its second season. Set in San Francisco, ‘Looking’ offers up the unfiltered experiences of close friends searching for happiness and intimacy in an age of unparalleled choice. Castillo recently completed production on the independent film ‘Sweets’ and is set to co-star in two additional independent films, ‘Celestina’ and ‘The Brute.’

Castillo made his feature film debut in ‘Amexicano,’ which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2007. Variety referred to his performance as “pitch-perfect.” He earned an honorable mention at the AFI Fest in 2012 for his work in the Student Academy Award-winning short film ‘Narcocorrido.’ Additional film credits include ‘Cold Weather,’ ‘Don’t Let Me Drown,’ ‘My Best Day,’ ‘The Girl’ and ‘Bless Me, Ultima.’ His television credits include ‘Blue Bloods,’ ‘Law & Order’ and ‘Nurse Jackie.’

Also a playwright, Castillo is a proud member of the LAByrinth Theater Company in New York City. He authored the play ‘Knives and Other Sharp Objects,’ which premiered in 2009 at the Public Theater. His theater acting credits include ‘Death And The Maiden,’ alongside Sandra Oh (Victory Gardens Theater), ‘The Way West’ (Lark), ‘Fish Men’ (Goodman Theater), ‘Jesus Hopped the A Train’ (Barebones Productions), ‘A Lifetime Burning’ (Primary Stages) and ‘School of the Americas’ (LAByrinth/Public Theater).

Born and raised in Texas, Castillo studied theater at Boston University's School of Fine Arts. He currently resides in New York City.
