Mickey Mantle
Mantle played his whole career for the New York Yankees and hit a total of 536 home runs. He received a kidney transplant in 1995 but died only a few weeks later. Richard Lewis says his autographed baseball was the 500th one Mantle hit out of a park, but if it was genuine it would be worth much more than the $20,000 figure he cites.
Andy Williams
Richard Lewis says Larry's sweater is appropriate for an "Andy Williams Summer Show." When singer Andy Williams's popular TV variety show ended in 1971, he did several specials a year for many years. One of his biggest hit songs was "Moon River."

Schlep is Yiddish slang for dragging or hauling something.
George Lopez
Comedian and star of self-titled ABC-TV series, Lopez had a kidney transplant earlier this year; his wife, Ann, was the donor.

This Hebrew word for "commandment" is also used to express an act of human kindness.
"No baseball on the Sabbath."
The Jewish Sabbath, or Shabbot, is observed before sundown on Friday until after nightfall on Saturday. Work and many other activities are prohibited during this time. Ben Heineman says he occasionally cheats by watching baseball on TV during Sabbath.
"Methinks the lady doth protest too much!"
Larry's complaint to Nurse Lisa paraphrases the line "The lady doth protest too much, methinks," from Shakespeare's Hamlet.
Hillel Mixer
Susie (pretending to be Larry's wife) says she met Larry at a Hillel mixer in college. Hillel is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world, with chapters at over 500 colleges.
Larry David and the Hipsters
Name of Larry's fictitious college band.
Milchig plates
Jewish dietary laws prohibit eating meat and dairy together, or even letting plates used to serve one to come into contact with the other. Utensils and foods are divided into three categories: fleishig (meat), milchig (dairy) and pareve (neutral).
"Shekiat Hachama"
Sundown. Rachel tells Larry that as a Jewish single woman, she can't be with him (a married man) after "Shekiat hachama."
Iris Bahr
Bahr, who plays Rachel Heineman, served two years in the Israeli military and got a degree in Neuropsychology before becoming an actor and stand-up comedian.
Mo Collins
Collins, who plays Nurse Lisa, was a regular on "Mad TV" from 1998-2004.
