Actor Roger Guenveur Smith can soon be seen playing a hit man with a twisted sense of humor in the caper film "Shade", starring opposite Sylvester Stallone, Gabriel Byrne and Jamie Foxx.
He recently appeared in the Peabody Award winning "A Huey P. Newton Story", which he adapted from his Obie-winning solo performance off-Broadway. Directed by Spike Lee, "A Huey P. Newton Story" will next air on the U.K.'s Channel 4.
Smith has collaborated with Lee on six other films, including "Do The Right Thing" and "Malcolm X".
Other recent projects include director Kevin Bray's "All About The Benjamins", in which he starred opposite Ice Cube and Mike Epps. That movie was his third hit for New Line Cinema; he also appeared in the studio's "Deep Cover" with Laurence Fishburne and Jeff Goldblum and in the psychothriller "Final Destination".
Roger's other film credits include Kasi Lemmon's "Eve's Bayou" opposite Sam Jackson, Abel Ferrara's "King of New York" with Christopher Walken and John Singleton's "Poetic Justice".
