Jake arrives for the session alone and tells Paul hes done with Amy, but still he worries that shell pull him back in. He also explains the troubled relationship hes had with his father, an academic who seems incapable of understanding his son. Paul notices some similarities in how Jake views both Amy and his father, but Jake doesnt want to get into that hes more concerned about losing his son in a custody battle. Paul suggests that his patient could learn a lot from more therapy, but Jake has had enough. Hes learned his lessons from his father, he says, and hes not going to screw up his own son.
