Synopsis
To release or not to release? Everyone holds their breath as Miramax debates whether The Battle of Shaker Heights will open in NY and LA, and Chris makes an appeal to Harvey Weinstein to release it in more cities. As the premiere date approaches, the team makes some finishing touches and awaits a response from Miramax. Will they pull out the big guns and open with a bang -- or surrender to a limited release and give up the battle for Shaker Heights?

Synopsis

Synopsis
With the film "in the can," Kyle and Efram embark upon post-production. Two weeks into the process, they screen a rough cut for Chris, Jeff and Erica, who question the tone - is it a drama or a comedy? The next cut is sent to Miramax exec Rick Schwartz, who feels the same ambiguity. After a grueling four days, Kyle and Efram barely get their tape to the pivotal test screening on time.

Synopsis
Three weeks into shooting, cast and crew are feeling drained. A set visit from Ben and J.Lo lifts some spirits, especially Erica's. Efram has a major clash with the boom operator, but when it comes time for the big kiss scene with Amy, Shia is a smooth operator. The final day of production gets off to a very shaky start as Shia continually stumbles over some difficult lines, but Kyle helps him through it, and finally...that's a wrap!

Synopsis
Pressure mounts as start of production nears, and Ben joins the team for a final script meeting. After Thomas Ackerman is hired as DP, the cast -- including Shia LeBeouf, Kathleen Quinlan and Amy Smart -- does a table read. At the last minute, the first location is finally set, much to the crew's relief.

Synopsis
It's five weeks from start of production, and the heat is rising. The group debate their casting and script concerns, and Kyle and Efram start to interview candidates for the film's key crew members. They also become embroiled in a battle over exactly who will end up editing the film. Finally, the directors extend offers for the main roles in the movie to several actors.

Synopsis
After some press photos and the surprising reintroduction of "Stolen Summer" producer Jeff Balis, the group gathers for some initial discussion about the winning screenplay, and Erica ties up lose ends back home in Ohio in preparation for her move to L.A. Meeting in L.A. for some illuminating casting and budget meetings, the winners realize how little control they may actually have over certain critical production elements. The producers discuss their thoughts on the winners' capabilities.

Project Greenlight #14

Synopsis
After the remaining directors try to sell the panel on their individual visions, the judges make their director decision, while all the finalists--writing and directing-- share a post-panel dinner, sizing each other up as potential partners. The next day is Big Announcement Day: the finalists go on a sponsored shopping spree for outfits and attend the press-and-celebrity-filled gala that evening. At the event, the winners are announced!

Project Greenlight #13

Synopsis
After a brief overview of the Project Greenlight contest by its creators, the season begins with the narrowing down of the top 50 scripts (from an initial 7,000!) to ten, and the directors down to four. Matt, Ben and Chris personally call the finalists to summon them to the 2003 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The excitement of arriving at this indie-film mecca soon turns to anxiety, however, as the judging panel screen directors' scene assignments and observe the screenwriters pitching their stories. Finally, six scripts are eliminated - and four directors and four writers are left standing.
