 Robert Kessel (Executive Producer)
Robert Kessel is Head of Production of Hart Sharp Entertainment. Before joining the company in September of 1999, Robert served as Vice President, Acquisitions at Miramax Films for five years. While at Miramax, he had been involved in the acquisition of a number of the most prestigious independent and foreign films, most notably Jan Sverak's 1996 Foreign Language Oscar® and Golden Globe® winner "Kolya," Majid Majidi's "Children of Heaven" (1998 Oscar® Nominated), Caroline Link's "Beyond Silence" (1997 Oscar® Nominated), Chris Eyre & Sherman Alexie's "Smoke Signals" (Audience Award and Grand Prize, Sundance 1998), Master P.'s urban box office hit "I Got the Hook Up," and Doug Liman's independent success "Swingers." He was involved with Miramax's production of Jez Butterworth's "Birthday Girl," starring Nicole Kidman.
Before working at Miramax, Robert worked with Stephen Chao as Director of Development at Chao, Inc. in Los Angeles. He started his career at New Line Cinema.
Most recently, Robert produced the urban drama "Lift," which screened at Sundance 2001 and premiered on Showtime in June 2002. Robert Kessel holds a BA from Vassar College (1992).
