 Kathy DeMarco (Executive Producer)
Kathy DeMarco has been John Leguizamo's creative and producing partner since 1998. Through their production company, Lower East Side Films, she has set up over eleven projects at Fox, HBO, ABC/Hallmark, FBC, Miramax and Universal. She co-produced JOE THE KING (Trimark 1999), Frank Whaley's directing debut starring Val Kilmer and Ethan Hawke, and co-executive produced PINERO (Miramax 2001), written and directed by Leon Ichaso and starring Benjamin Bratt.
DeMarco is also a writer. She and Leguizamo are currently writing a screenplay adaptation of Leguizamo's stage show SEXAHOLIX...a love story. She is also rewriting, with Leguizamo, the original script, DUMBSTRUCK.
Besides running Lower East Side Films, DeMarco wrote her first novel, CRANBERRY QUEEN in 2000, which Talk Miramax Books bought in a preemptive bid twenty-two hours after its submission. Since then, publishing rights have been sold to four countries: U.K., Japan, Germany and Holland. CRANBERRY QUEEN was originally published in June 2001, and the paperback edition was released in May 2002. It is currently in its fourth printing. Miramax Films optioned the film rights to CRANBERRY QUEEN and has hired DeMarco to write the screenplay adaptation. DeMarco is currently completing her second novel THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOU AND ME, which will be again published by Talk Miramax Books during the summer of 2003.
