From the makers of HBO Films' Emmy® Award-winning The Gathering Storm, this charming, evocative drama tells the story of a group of travelers in Italy who find solace and friendship in a rural villa after being thrown together in the wake of a terrorist attack. Acclaimed actress Dame Maggie Smith (Gosford Park) stars as English novelist and Umbria resident Emily Delahunty, who is one of four survivors of a mysterious explosion in a compartment of a train bound for Milan.
With the survivors detained by authorities pending the outcome of the investigation, Emily offers her home to the three other survivors: a retired English general, a young German photographer, and an eight-year-old American girl orphaned in the blast. Surrounded by lush scenery in an idyllic location, the group forms an unexpectedly strong bond while convalescing.
But their peace and harmony are upset by the arrival of the girl's overly staid uncle (Chris Cooper), as well as the unsettling possibilities of the explosion's origins as raised by an Italian investigator (Giancarlo Giannini).
Directed by The Gathering Storm's Richard Loncraine, My House in Umbria premieres on HBO Sunday, May 25 at 9 p.m. ET.
