"I also knew Vivien Thomas and appeared in Life Magazine with 'Anna' the dog" Submitted by: Michael S., Baltimore, MD I was #28 of the original Blue Babies - July 16, 1945 done by Blalock + Taussig. I also knew Vivien Thomas and appeared in Life Magazine with "Anna" the dog. I use to appear at functions to encourage the use of dogs for the surgery and to support the operation. My baby doctor was G. Bowers Mansdorfer, a well-known Baltimore doctor. I have copies of Life and lots of newspaper articles to support the history of the Blue Baby surgery. I'm 63 yrs. old, have had 2 heart surgeries, and now have a defibrillator, but I'm still going and still working.
