 A multi-faceted comedic talent, George Lopez is the co-creator, writer, producer and star of "George Lopez," a sitcom which debuted in the spring of 2002. The show's 'angel' is actress Sandra Bullock who became interested in Lopez after catching him at a club in Austin. "She loved the whole dysfunctional family thing," comments Lopez. Bullock and Bruce Helford ("The Drew Carey Show") are executive producers of the sitcom, which is produced by ABC and Warner Brothers Television.
Lopez also co-stars in "Latin Kings of Comedy," the upcoming Paramount Pictures concert film, and has sold out virtually every top comedy club in the nation.
Previously, Lopez was featured in "Bread and Roses," British filmmaker Ken Loach's quasi-comic take on a janitorial strike in L. A.'s high rise corporate world, which premiered at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. The comedian also appeared in Showtime's "Fidel" and Disney's "Frank McKluskey, C.I." for Disney. He has appeared on "The Tonight Show," "Politically Incorrect," "The View" and "Resurrection Boulevard." Lopez frequently hosts Univision's "Que Locos."
Lopez hosted major morning radio for Clear Channel Communications in Los Angeles. He was the first Latino to headline the keystone morning radio slot on an English-language station in L.A.---the nation's top radio market. His CD, "Right Now Right Now" (Oglio Records/Warner Brothers) enjoys critical and public acceptance.
A native of Los Angeles who grew up in San Fernando Valley's Mission Hills, Lopez is a spokesperson for charities and foundations like LAPD's Stop the Violence program. He received the National Hispanic Media Coalition Impact Award, the Manny Mota Foundation Community Spirit Award and was named Honorary Mayor of Los Angeles for his extensive fundraising efforts benefiting earthquake victims in El Salvador and Guatemala.
