 Ellen Burstyn (Gerda Stedman) won the Academy Award® for her performance in
"Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" and more recently, earned both Academy Award® and
Golden Globe® nominations for her fearless performance in the 2001 drama "Requiem
for a Dream." She began her training at the Actors Studio, where she currently serves
as co-president, before starring in a string of films that brought her Oscar® and Golden
Globe nominations: "The Exorcist," "The Last Picture Show," and "Resurrection." Her
additional film credits include "Goodbye Charlie," "The King of Marvin Gardens," "The
Spitfire Grill" and "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood." She made her Broadway
debut in 1957 in "Fair Game" and won the Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer
Critics Circle Award for her performance in "Same Time, Next Year." She then won a
Golden Globe® Award and an Oscar® nomination for the film by the same name. Among
her television credits are "My Brother's Keeper," "Trick of the Eye," "That's Life" and an
Emmy®-nominated performance in "Pack of Lies."
