Actress/Comedienne Janeane Garofalo has been consistently
working in film and television. Recent projects include Steal
This Movie (the Abby Hoffman story), Disney's soon to
be released Big Trouble (also starring Rene Russo and
Tim Allen) and Wet Hot American Summer, which was showcased
at The Sundance Film Festival in February. She can also be
seen in The Truth About Cats and Dogs, Mystery Men,
Dog Park, Permanent Midnight, 200 Cigarettes,
Clay Pigeons, The Minus Man and Dogma.
In addition to a demanding shooting schedule, Janeane continues
to perform stand-up at locations around the country.
Her earlier work includes Copland, Romy and Michelle's
High School Reunion, Reality Bites, Bye Bye
Love, Larger Than Life, Touch, and The
Cable Guy directed by her friend Ben Stiller. Ben and
Janeane also co-authored the best seller Feel This Book
(Ballantine May 1999).
Janeane was a series regular on The Larry Sander's Show,
for which she received an Emmy nominations in 1997 and two
Cable Ace nominations. Some of Janeane's other television
work includes two specials for HBO and the series finale of
Mad About You. She also hosted Indie Outing,
a music based show for MTV. During the fall of '94 she joined
the cast of Saturday Night Live. Janeane was also a
cast member of the Emmy Award-winning Ben Stiller Show.
Janeane attended Providence College in Rhode Island and began
performing stand-up in her senior year. Shortly after graduating
with a degree in American Studies and History, she moved to
Los Angeles and made her national television debut on The
Dennis Miller Show. Among her earliest television stand-up
appearances are FOX's Comic Strip Live and MTV's Half
Hour Comedy Hour.
Janeane does not limit herself to on-camera work. She can
be spotted doing sets at several of the alternative comedy
shows and major comedy club venues in New York and Los Angeles.
