 Effie T. Brown (producer) was recently honored with the 2003 "Distinguished Young Alumni Award" from Loyola Marymount University, where she graduated with a degree in Film Production. Brown began her career as director of development for Tim Burton Productions and then went on to line produce several features including "Desert Blue," "But I'm a Cheerleader" and "Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her." More recently, Brown produced the HBO film "Stranger Inside," nominated for three IFP Spirit Awards, and "Real Woman Have Curves," winner of two Sundance Film Festival awards and successfully released by Newmarket and HBO Films. These two films earned Brown the Motorola Producer Award at the 2003 IFP West Independent Spirit Awards. Most recently, Brown was executive producer of Jane Campion's "In The Cut."
