After a 20-year career as an assistant director on over 50 movies, Simon
Moseley (producer) began working as producer for Classical Features with Kenneth
Branagh in 2003. He produced "The Magic Flute," Branagh's film version of Mozart's
opera.
During his 20s, Simon played in various rock bands (culminating in a short lived
recording contract with Charisma Records), until he discovered the joys of film production
with the Merchant-Ivory family. He had the rewarding experience of being involved in their
golden age of productions, which comprised "A Room with a View," "Howard's End" and
"The Remains of the Day." Moseley also worked on Derek Jarman's "Caravaggio" and
Sally Potter's "Orlando."
Moseley and Branagh first collaborated on the director's version of Mary Shelley's
"Frankenstein" and he was subsequently first assistant director on "Hamlet," "In the Bleak
Midwinter" and "Love's Labours Lost."
Moseley's latest project as producer is a new version of "Sleuth," again directed by
Kenneth Branagh, starring Michael Caine and Jude Law, with a new screenplay by Harold
Pinter.
