 While studying with the National Youth Theatre, Romola Garai was cast in
Gillies Mackinnon's HBO feature "The Last of the Blonde Bombshells" (in which she played
the younger incarnation of Dame Judi Dench's character). She went on to play the lead in
her first theatrical film, "I Capture the Castle." Her other credits include the films "Scoop,"
"Inside I'm Dancing," "Vanity Fair" and "Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights," and on TV,
Douglas McGrath's "Nicholas Nickleby" and Tom Hooper's BBC miniseries "Daniel
Deronda." Garai also starred on the London stage as James Joyce's daughter in Michael
Hastings' "Lucia in Calico," directed by Edward Hall. Her most recent film projects include
Michael Apted's "Amazing Grace" and the title role of Francois Ozon's "The Real Life of
Angel Deverell."
