Paul is a New York-based independent producer. His most
recent production was Joshua Marston's "Maria Full of Grace," winner of international
awards at Sundance, Berlin, Deauville, the Gothams, and the Independent Spirits,
among others. The film also received an Academy Award® nomination (Best Actress) for its star,
Catalina Sandino Moreno. Mezey produced Jim McKay's "Our Song" and "Everyday
People," and produced (with McKay) "Spring Forward" and supervised post-production
on "American Movie," which McKay produced. His other feature credits include "The
City (La Ciudad)," directed by David Riker, and "The Ballad of Ramblin' Jack," directed
by Ayiana Elliott, winner of the Special Jury Prize for Artistic Achievement at the 2000
Sundance Film Festival. Mezey won the IFP/West Motorola Producer's Award at the
Independent Spirits in 2001 and was selected by Variety in 2004 as one of the "Ten
Producers to Watch." He is currently developing "Untitled Iraqi Convoy Project" with
"Maria" director Joshua Marston and is executive producing "Half Nelson," directed by
Ryan Fleck.
