Jim won the Sundance Film Festival Filmmakers' Trophy
and a Special Jury Prize for Outstanding Collaborative Achievement for his 1996 debut
feature "Girls Town," which he also co-wrote. He then wrote and directed the critically
acclaimed "Our Song" in 2000 and the ensemble drama "Everyday People" (2004) for
HBO Films. All three films premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He is the co-
founder, along with Michael Stipe, of C-Hundred Film Corp. Since its inception in 1987,
C-Hundred's production credits include "American Movie," "Spring Forward," "La Boda,"
HBO's "Stranger Inside," "Sleepy Time Gal," "Escuela," "Brother to Brother," and the
upcoming "Room." McKay was a Rockefeller Fellow for 2001/2002 and a Guggenheim
Fellow for 2003/2004.
