Executive Producer
Daniel Laikind is a founder and President of Production of Manhattan-based Stick Figure Productions -- one of the most dynamic young companies in the business.
Laikind -- who oversees the development and production of all of Stick Figure's projects -- is an astute, accomplished producer of non-fiction television and motion pictures. He is currently an Executive Producer of "Amish in the City," UPN's hit reality series with New Line Television that premiered July 28. Laikind also serves as an executive producer for HBO's "Family Bonds" -- the highly anticipated 10 part documentary series about bounty hunters that premieres Sunday, September 19 following "The Wire".
In 1998, Laikind formed Stick Figure Productions with director Steven Cantor to produce the documentary Bounce: Behind the Velvet Rope (Audience Award -- Best Film, 2000 Los Angeles Independent Film Festival). Under the company banner, Laikind subsequently developed and produced Devil's Playground, a documentary feature about Amish teenagers that premiered at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival and garnered an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Documentary and the Grand Prize at the Sony AFI/DV Cam Festival and was nominated for three 2003 Emmy Awards.
Laikind also produced Crossover, Cantor's examination of musicians (Ice-T, Courtney Love, Bette Midler, Mos Def and Dwight Yoakam, amongst others) who make forays into acting, and served as a producer for Willie Nelson: Still is Still Moving, a feature documentary about the legendary singer that opened the 2003 fall season of PBS' "American Masters" series.
Laikind's most recent producing credits include "The Cult of Cindy," a special about plastic surgery addiction for AMC, and Slasher, John Landis' documentary about the cutthroat world of used car salesmen for IFC.
Born and raised in New York City, Laikind is a graduate of Northwestern University's School of Speech and oversees Stick Figure's extensive development slate, which includes a number of film and television projects.
