Workers United

Workers United, SEIU is a union of 150,000 workers in the US and Canada who work in the apparel, textile, laundry, food service, hospitality, gaming, manufacturing and distribution industries. Workers United is a new union with a 100 year heritage, and includes members from predecessor unions like the ILGWU, ACTWU, UNITE and UNITE HERE.

 

SEIU

The Service Employees International Union is the fastest-growing union in North America, focused on uniting workers in the key service sectors to improve their lives and the services they provide. The 2.1 million members united in SEIU across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico work in Healthcare, Public Services, and Property Services.

The Fashion Center Business Improvement District

The Fashion Center Business Improvement District provides "clean and safe" services, and marketing and promotional programs to the area between 35th and 41st Streets & Fifth and Ninth Avenues in New York City.

National Labor Committee

This nonprofit advocacy organization focuses on the defense of worker and human rights in the global economy. The NLC documents conditions in offshore factories and exposes human and labor rights abuses committed by U.S. companies producing goods in the developing world. In the U.S. the NLC carries out public education, research and campaigns shaped to allow U.S. people-and citizens of other developed countries-to meet the challenge of the new global economy, to hold corporations accountable to protect workers' rights, and to press for new global democratic institutions that will ensure economic justice and dignity for workers everywhere.

National Employment Law Project - Unemployed Workers

Created by the National Employment Law Project, this site offers an array of resources for workers faced with the prospect of unemployment. The website includes links to local resources, news about available benefits and unemployment insurance, and reports on national and statewide trends.

Sidney Hillman Foundation

Founded in 1947 in memory of Sidney Hillman, longtime president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, the Sidney Hillman Foundation is dedicated to promoting public education, culture and intellectual ideas both for and on behalf of workers. Since its creation, the foundation has made grants for scholarships, research, and lecture series on college campuses. The Foundation is also deeply concerned with the responsibilities of a free press and recognizes top journalists with monthly and annual awards honoring socially conscious journalism.
