On April 26, 1986, the world's worst nuclear accident
occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear reactor. Maxim Surkov
lived just three kilometers from Chernobyl, in an apartment
complex located in Pripyat, Ukraine, and was one of 48,000
Pripyat city residents who were evacuated from their
homes.
