The Smile Train
The Smile Train is the world's leading cleft charity, with thousands of partners and programs in 76 of the world's poorest countries. The organization's mission is to help millions of children suffering with un-repaired clefts in developing countries. It provides free cleft surgery to children from poor families that give children not just a new smile, but a new life. Now in its tenth year, The Smile Train will help its 500,000th child this year.
What is a Cleft?

A cleft is a birth defect and often the #1 birth defect in most developing countries. A cleft lip is an opening in the upper lip between a newborn's mouth and nose. A cleft palate is created when the roof of the mouth has a hole in it. Babies can be born with a cleft lip or palate or both.
