Sari's Mother
From the maker of Cinemax's Oscar®-nominated 2007 documentary feature film Iraq in Fragments comes
a new Cinemax Reel Life presentation, a short verité film examining the
frustration and challenges facing an impoverished Iraqi woman caring for her young
family, including a 10-year-old boy who contracted AIDS after a tainted blood
transfusion. Beautifully shot, and heart-wrenching in its simple depiction of a young
boy yearning to live a normal life, Sari's Mother shows the tragic ramifications of
terrorism, war and occupation in Iraq, as a rural mother struggles to overcome layers
of indifference and bureaucracy in finding suitable healthcare options that might
keep her young son alive. Read more.
