Other Organizations Involved In Helping AIDS Orphans Elton John AIDS Foundation Established by founder and chairman Sir Elton John in 1992, EJAF is one of the world’s leading nonprofit organizations supporting innovative HIV/AIDS prevention education programs and direct care services to people living with HIV/AIDS. Since their inception in 1993, over 900 HIV/AIDS projects have been funded in 55 countries worldwide. Through its dynamic grant-making programs, EJAF funds a broad spectrum of services to men, women, young adults, children, and infants, focusing especially on underserved communities, high-risk groups, and populations with special needs. AIDS Foundation of South Africa The AIDS Foundation of South Africa is a registered non-profit organisation based in Durban, South Africa. Its mission is to mobilise and manage resources for HIV/AIDS work in the country. It was founded in 1988 by a group of concerned individuals who saw their friends living with HIV/AIDS, with neither government nor community support. UNAIDS South Africa UNAIDS in South Africa works through the UN Theme Group on HIV/AIDS, consisting exclusively of the UN Country Team (Cosponsors and non-Cosponsors of UNAIDS), with the UNAIDS Country Coordinator's office as a secretariat. Nurturing Orphans of AIDS for Humanity Nurturing Orphans of AIDS for Humanity (NOAH), works at franchising community-based models of orphan care through which motivated individuals from communities are guided to set up their own community "Ark"; a network of accountable and synergistic support armed with the skills and confidence to care for their orphaned and vulnerable children. The Ark Foundation of Africa The Ark Foundation of Africa (AFA) is a non-profit organization that was started a in 1986 with the mission being to improve the quality of life of Africans--with emphasis on women, youth, and children-by providing assistance through educational and community economic development programs that are replicable, sustainable, and poverty alleviating. AFA programs assist vulnerable groups, such as those who are infected and affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic, women, children and the youth. Hope for African Children Initiative The Hope for African Children Initiative (HACI) is a pan-African effort created to address the enormous challenges faced by millions of African children who have either been orphaned by AIDS or live with parents who are sick or dying from AIDS-related illnesses. The Firelight Foundation The mission of the Firelight Foundation is to support and advocate for the needs and rights of children who are orphaned or affected by HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. Firelight strives to increase the resources available to grassroots organizations that are strengthening the capacity of families and communities to care for children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. The Pendulum Project The Pendulum Project empowers grassroots organizations that support children in AIDS affected regions of sub-Saharan Africa by linking them with individuals and communities committed to providing essential resources, advocacy and hope. The Pendulum Project believes in creating a culture where all are given a voice to pursue dignity, justice and equality in the fight against AIDS and poverty. NextAid NextAid is a Los Angeles based non-profit organization dedicated to creating sustainable solutions for African children orphaned as a result of AIDS. NextAid actively links artists, musicians and the global community with some of the most impoverished and vulnerable children on the planet. By partnering with various organizations in the production of music events and other awareness raising activities, NextAid channels emergency and long-term aid to African children in need. |
