California, U.S. Army
Submitted by Sandra Rosales
I meet my husband on May 3, 1998. We were both assigned to Korea, he was a SPC and I was a PFC. We got married on July 2, 1999 in Killeen, TX. By then he was assigned to Ft. Irwin, Ca. I was blessed to be reassigned to Ft. Irwin with Victor after spending a few months in Ft. Hood. In February 17 we reported to Vilseck Germany, I was two months pregnant and it was in Germany that our son Victor Gabriel was borne. Three months after given birth we were force to take my son to California due to an upcoming deployment to Iraq. One month later we deployed. We were lucky to be assigned to the same camp and saw each other almost in a daily basis. On April 13 he passed when an IED explored while they were being ambush in route to fellulla. I was send back to California to bury my husband and to raise my son. Victor was the most wonderful man in this planet. He was brave, intelligent, caring, and most of all he was proud to be an American. I am currently assigned to Los Alamitos, Ca. in a reserved unit, at least until I decide weather I remain in the service or not.
