HBO: As the "perky and punctual" star of over 200
adult films, how would you characterize
yourself within the industry?
Katie Morgan: I've always been kind of the nice girl of porn,
which, I guess, is a bit of an oxymoron. But
that's just me. You know, I like sex and I love
making movies, but I'm not crazy hardcore.
And I'm perfectly willing to say that. And
when I look at what people are into in the
business, it's still a bit shocking to me.
HBO: When HBO first pitched you on doing a show
in the buff, what did you think?
Katie Morgan: Well, originally it was meant to be live in front
of an audience with me naked, which I was
quite nervous about. But we ended up
shooting it without the audience, and at that
point I was built up for something so much
more stressful than we ended up shooting
that it became no big deal to just be naked all
the time. 'Cause, you know, it's not as bad as
all that, right?
HBO: What's your favorite part of your work?
Katie Morgan: I like putting on a show. I actually get off on
it. And the fact that I'm having sex while
putting on a show makes it all the more easy
to actually get off on it.
HBO: Did you ever imagine this career for yourself
when you were growing up?
Katie Morgan: I always did sort of picture myself as a bit
slutty. And I guess I sort of took on that role
as I got older. And it just occurred to me one
day while watching a porno that they're
getting paid for that. Like, wait a second, I do
that for free. Plus hot guys and guaranteed
large size? It seemed right for me all around.
But, no, I never actually planned on it. It was
just like a light bulb went off one day.
HBO: You've been moving away from adult films and
getting more into 'straight' films lately. Do you
think you'll ever come out of retirement and
make a return to porn?
Katie Morgan: I'm very grateful and thankful for having been
in the business, and God, I love it. I will never
actually say that I'm a hundred percent
retired because you never know. I might just
decide to go back one more time!
HBO: In your experience, have you found any major
differences in men's and women's desires, in
terms of what they want, sexually?
Katie Morgan: I don't even think the distinction is drawn
from men to women. I think the difference in
people's desires is person to person to person.
It's amazing to me how different every single
person I've ever had sex with has been.
Nobody has been like someone else.
HBO: When you first got into the business, did you
like being with women as much as men?
Katie Morgan: I had only fooled around with a couple girls
before I got into the industry, and that was
the same as everybody. Well, maybe not
everybody, but slutty girls, anyway. You get
drunk at a party, and you make out with your
friend to turn on the guys, right? That's what
everybody does. So, high school was good
times. So, I guess I would say I like girls, but
I'm way more straight than I am gay, because
my only interest in women has been to get to
the men behind them.
HBO: Any advice for people who've never seen your
specials and are discovering the irrepressible
Katie Morgan for the first time?
Katie Morgan: I hope people will realize that we don't need to
be so uptight about sex. We all have it, we all
like it. Even if you want to keep it private,
that's all good, but why not know more about
it? You know, don't be so stressed. It's not a
big deal.
HBO: It's just sex.
Katie Morgan: It's just sex! Exactly.
