Diary Excerpt:
My Summer Vacation with the Grahams
Aug. 20, 2003
Dyersville, Iowa
So there I was rolling through the back roads of eastern Iowa with Bob and his
wife, their four daughters, four son-in-laws and ten grandchildren, singing the Graham for President theme song: "You've got a friend in Bob Graham, that's what everybody's
saying, all the way across the good old USA, from Atlantic to Pacific we all say that he's
terrific, America needs Bob Graham today..." I had never met these people before, but
they are not shying away from showing me their cheers, chants and dance moves to the
Bob Graham for President CD.
The best part about this RV trip is that it is not a campaign gimmick; this actually is
their family vacation. There is no such thing as a day off in the life of a politician,
especially if you are running for president. When I asked the Senator how the trip was
going he responded, "This is the best family vacation yet."
