THE RUSSIAN CHILDREN'S WELFARE SOCIETY The Children of Leningradsky Fund The Children of Leningradsky Fund has been established by The Russian Children's Welfare Society, filmmaker Hanna Polak and Active Child Aid. It's purpose is to give homeless and vulnerable Russian children immediate and sufficient long-term aid, with the goal of establishing a rehabilitation center in Moscow. Additional resources, information, and ways to help homeless, abandoned, and impoverished children: THE NATIONAL RUNAWAY SWITCHBOARD The National Runaway Switchboard's mission is to keep America's runaway and at-risk youth safe and off the streets by providing cutting-edge resources, support, crisis intervention, and referral services for youth and families. Hotline: 1-800-RUNAWAY (1-800-786-2929) NATIONAL CENTER FOR MISSING & EXPLOITED CHILDREN The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's(r) (NCMEC) mission is to help prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation; help find missing children; and assist victims of child abduction and sexual exploitation, their families, and the professionals who serve them. Hotline: 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH: STREET CHILDREN Street children throughout the world are subjected to physical abuse by police or have been murdered outright, as governments treat them as a blight to be eradicated - rather than as children to be nurtured and protected. Very little attention has been paid to the constant police violence and abuse from which many children suffer. This often neglected side of street children's lives has been a focus of Human Rights Watch's research and action. STANDUP FOR KIDS Standup For Kids helps rescue homeless and at-risk youth through a national volunteer force whose on-the-streets outreach efforts find, stabilize and assist homeless and street kids in their efforts to improve their lives. 800-365-4KID (800-365-4543) SHARE OUR STRENGTH Share Our Strength -- one of the nation's leading anti-hunger, anti-poverty organizations - helps mobilize the culinary industry to organize events, host dinners, teach cooking and nutrition classes to low-income families, and serve as anti-hunger advocates. Since 1984, Share Our Strength has supported more than 1,100 anti-hunger and anti-poverty programs worldwide. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF HOMELESS CHILDREN AND YOUTH (NAEHCY) NAEHCY connects educators, parents, advocates, researchers and service providers to ensure school academic achievement and overall success for children and youth whose lives have been disrupted by the lack of safe, permanent and adequate housing. NATIONAL NETWORK FOR YOUTH National Network for Youth champions the needs of runaway, homeless, and other disconnected youth through advocacy, innovation and services - one community at a time. NATIONAL CENTER FOR CHILDREN IN POVERTY The National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research and policy organization at Columbia University whose mission is to identify and promote strategies that prevent child poverty in the United States and that improve the lives of low-income children and families. |
