Committee to Protect Journalists - Iraq: Journalists in Danger
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) is a nonprofit organization that promotes press freedom
worldwide by defending the rights of journalists to report the news without fear of reprisal. The
group works in more than 120 countries and raises awareness about abuses against the press
through public protests, articles and news releases, special reports, a biannual magazine, and
Attacks on the Press, an annual survey of press freedom around the world. This page offers a

The Iraqi Red Crescent
A member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, this NGO
seeks to help the wounded without discrimination. The group's health care services include
emergency medical care, programs for expectant mothers, and hospital-based services specializing
in surgery, obstetrics, gynecology and pediatrics.
Medact
Medact is British charity that promotes education, research and advocacy on the health implications
of conflict, development, and environmental change in developing countries. The group recently
published a report entitled Rehabilitation under fire: health care in Iraq 2003-2007 (January 2008)
available on the website that describes the impact of the war and its aftermath on the physical and
mental health of the Iraqi people.
Doctors without Boarders: Amman: A Window into Iraq
Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international humanitarian aid
organization that provides emergency medical assistance to populations in danger in more than 70
countries. This page describes the group's Iraq assistance program organized in partnership with
the Red Crescent hospital in Amman, Jordan. The program aims to provide supplies to health care
workers across Iraq and transfer patients to Amman for special surgery.
