ADVOCACY American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging This group is an association of 5,700 member organizations that offer the continuum of aging services: adult day services, home health, community services, senior housing, assisted living residences, continuing care retirement communities and nursing homes. National Association of Area Agencies on Aging The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) advocates on behalf of local aging agencies to ensure that needed resources and support services are available to older Americans. These agencies coordinate and support a wide range of home- and community-based services, including information and referral, home-delivered and congregate meals, transportation, employment services, senior centers, adult day care and a long-term care ombudsman program. National Family Caregivers Association The National Family Caregivers Association educates, supports, empowers and speaks up for the more than 50 million Americans who care for loved ones with a chronic illness or disability or the frailties of old age. VOLUNTEER The Volunteer Match This national nonprofit helps match potential volunteers to participating nonprofits across the country. The goals of the organization are to bring communities closer together, expand the capacity of civil society, and encourage individual empowerment and participation. GOVERNMENT U.S. Administration on Aging This website for the U.S. Administration on Aging provides a comprehensive overview of a wide variety of topics, programs and services related to aging. Areas covered include descriptions of AoA programs and services, information about legislation and regulations related to the Older Americans Act, and how to seek out health insurance counseling and legal assistance. Eldercare Locator This public service provided by the U.S. Administration on Aging helps users find resources for older adults in any U.S. community. The service links those who need assistance with state and local area agencies on aging and community-based organizations that serve older adults and their caregivers. |
