TAKING ACTION

Keep a Child Alive

Founded in 2002, Keep a Child Alive is a campaign that offers people the opportunity to provide lifesaving antiretroviral (ARV) medicine and support services directly to children and families with HIV/AIDS in some of the world's poorest countries. The group currently provides funding for 14 clinical and orphan care sites in 6 countries and has provided care for over 45,000 patients since its inception.

Love, Hallie

LOVE, HALLIE promotes youth philanthropy by helping young people improve their communities and the world through research, volunteering, giving, and getting others involved. Founded in honor Hallie Geier, the group has organized trips for the children of the Agape Child Care Center to come to America to raise funds.

ONE - The ONE Campaign

The group seeks to raise public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in developing countries. The group aspires to mobilize people from all 50 states to expand awareness of these issues; publish educational information about the impact of overseas development assistance and reformation of unfair international trade regimes on global poverty, hunger and disease; and promote the framework of the Millennium Development Goals to eradicate poverty and improve public health and education.

SPW USA

SPW empowers youth to change their lives. Each year, SPW places young peer educators in the rural communities in Asia and Africa which have often been overlooked. These educators - many of whom are from the same countries as these communities - work full-time providing HIV prevention and empowerment programs for at-risk youth. Joined by international volunteers, these young people enact amazing change in attitudes towards sexual behavior and knowledge of HIV and AIDS.
