Poem: "A Different World"

Okay! Friday night (TOGETHER)
5:30 at work, forgot my cell (GAKNEW)
so I called to make sure all is well (GAKNEW)
Contractions started (TOGETHER)
But I knew exactly what to do (THEA)
so I started to breathe
And I hurried home (GAKNEW)
We did Lamaze 'til 3 (TOGETHER)
'Til she couldn't stand alone (GAKNEW)
Tired to walk it out (THEA)
Baby like, "For get what y'all talkin' 'bout". (GAKNEW)
Nurse talkin' pitocine to speed the contraction count (THEA)
But 4 hours later, after 12 hours of labor (TOGETHER)
dilated (GAKNEW)
3 centimeters (THEA)
still aint broke her water (GAKNEW)
Congratulations! (TOGETHER)
Killin' like a Charlie horse in your testicles (GAKNEW)
How would he know? (THEA)
It's more like your body is being rung out like a sponge
Either way (GAKNEW)
2400 of them, 3 minutes apart, from (TOGETHER)
dusk 'til dawn, (THEA)
day light back to dark (GAKNEW)
24 hours, 5 centimeters, (TOGETHER)
trynna think of what to tell her like Noah buildin'
the arch (GAKNEW)
'Cause if them tears fall
it's ten feet of flash flood rippin' through brick
wall (TOGETHER)
breakin' down my sanity. Pitocine increased. (THEA)
29 hours of agony. (TOGETHER)
Pain never ceased
3 options left (GAKNEW)
will it be epidural, c-section ,or death
I choose epidural (THEA)
I didn't have much left in me
She chose epidural (GAKNEW)
terrified, running out of time (TOGETHER)
needle in her spine, blood to her behind (GAKNEW)
Doctor couldn't figure it out (TOGETHR)
took her three tries (THEA)
I'm prayin' rebukin' doubt as tears fall from my eyes (GAKNEW)
then 7 hours later, sister holdin' up my legs (THEA)
While I
push! Come on baby. I can see the head. (GAKNEW)
Wanted kids since I was 1 (TOGETHER)
3, maybe 4 (GAKNEW)
But I don't know. Havin' one was a lot to endure (THEA)
But then (GAKNEW)
we began to raise her (TOGETHER)
and now Cat in the Hat has become my favorite book
again (THEA)
when
She smiles (GAKNEW)
makin' gettin' home form work at 3 in the mornin'
feel like sunny Saturday, just getting' up in the
mornin' (THEA)
this (TOGETHER)
is twice the joy (GAKNEW)
twice the (THEA)
twice the worries (GAKNEW)
but it's twice the (THEA)
it's twice the work (GAKNEW)
but it's twice the fun (THEA)
it's twice the chase (GAKNEW)
she loves to run (TOGETHER)
it's double the trouble, and sometimes
moneys a maybe (THEA)
but nothin' compares to havin' a bay (GAKNEW)
