Thea Monyee and Gaknew Roxwel
Thea Monyee and Gaknew are two Los Angeles-based slam poets who happen to be married to each other, and often share the mike and each other's lines - when they are not alternating between themselves. Roxwel, who is also a seasoned emcee, producer, visual artist, and educator, is a two-time Poetry Lounge Grand Slam Champion and a member of the 2004 National Poetry Slam championship team. Monyee, who recently toured with HBO's Rhyme and Reason, has appeared on a Nickelodeon "American History" special as well as BET's "Lyric Café" and "The Way We Do It." Their debut CD release, "The Family Album," focuses on working class urban life.
