If Al Swearengen has some dirty work to be done, he knows that he can count on enforcer Dan Dority. Whether it's working in The Gem or killing off somebody that needs it, Dority can fill just about any role that Swearengen can think up. It was Dan who took care of Tim Driscoll and Brom Garret, among myriad other problems, and though Dan seems unhappy at the arrival of Silas Adams as Al's new man, it is Dan who offers to "walk over and take 'em all out at once," when Swearengen is besieged by Tolliver and Clagett.
