Shelley Berman
Shelley Berman (who plays Larry's dad in this episode) is an old pro in the comedy biz. He became famous in the '50's with an act in which he sat on a stool, held an imaginary telephone receiver to his ear and often engaged in agonizingly frustrating conversations with idiotic bureaucrats. He performed numerous times on the Ed Sullivan show, Tonight Show with Jack Paar, Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In and has also appeared on Friends, L.A. Law and Arliss. His Grammy-winning 1959 comedy album "Inside Shelley Berman" rose to #2 on the charts; it and two other of his comedy recordings have gone gold. He was featured in "The Great Standups," Robert Weide's 1984 documentary about standup comedians.
