"Valerie Stands up for Aunt Sassy" |

Directed by: Michael Lehmann
Written by: John Riggi
Summary
"I always honor the work," Valerie explains to Jane and her cameras as she prepares for Room and Bored's live taping. That is until the work involves Aunt Sassy referring to a litter of puppies as a "Korean barbecue." Concerned about her character's likeability, Valerie lobbies Tom and Paulie G. to change her line, which leads silver-haired director Jimmy to issue her a stern warning: "You can't tell two 30-year old hotshots how to write. Want to start the Hate Show?"
Aunt Sassy might hate puppies, but Valerie Cherish does not. And to prove it, she adopts one - a decision she regrets almost immediately. When the pup scratches her lip after Mark brings him into their bed, she leaves to sleep elsewhere.
As the reality cameras catch ever more embarrassing moments - Valerie picking her teeth, Valerie bending over to clean up her spilled yogurt, Valerie pulling "puppy poo" from her hair - she's still preoccupied with Aunt Sassy's heartless line. In the end she gets her way - and an even more unflattering line.
Flummoxed after the taping, Valerie forgets the puppy - then hands the dog over to Jane, realizing she has enough to contend with without it.
