Jenny Bicks
Executive Producer

Jenny Bicks has been writing for Sex and the City since the first season. Before that, she wrote for a number of sitcoms, including "Seinfeld" and "Dawson's Creek." In addition, she created and Executive Produced the single-camera comedy "Leap of Faith" for NBC. Jenny also works in film - her movie "What a Girl Wants" (Warner Brothers) premiered in April 2003, and she recently completed the screen adaptation of the best-selling "The Nanny Diaries" for Miramax.

We asked the writers and producers of Sex and the City about their experiences working on the series. Here's our exclusive interview with Jenny Bicks:

What's your favorite part of your job?
The people. What an amazing group of writers and actors and crew to work with. We have a blast together. And the ability to write real stuff that comes from our lives that people can relate to. HBO has been so great about allowing us to write without boundaries...it makes all the difference. Oh, and sometimes we get free clothes.

What's the biggest challenge of your job?
Sometimes the single-camera production schedule can be challenging. Since there are so few of us writing and producing the show, it's important that we always stay ahead of our shooting schedule.

What is your own process when writing an episode?
All of us, actually, spend a lot of time at the outline stage so that by the time we get to writing it is pretty well thought out. I like to wake up early in the morning and write for as many hours as I can. I write through the first draft pretty quickly, then go back in, tear it apart, and start over again. I hate leaving things until the last minute. I'm convinced the muse will abandon me.

Do you write from your own personal experiences?
All the time. People can tell from your writing if it doesn't feel real.

How does being a New Yorker shape your writing?
I'm the only real New Yorker so if anyone else answers this they are LIARS. There's something about the New York attitude of seeing everything and being everywhere and never stopping until you sleep that infuses our show. I also like to reference all the Park Avenue rules I grew up with for Charlotte. Poor thing, she still wants to live in the classic six. Me, I like LA now.

Which SATC character do you identify with most?
Oh not this again. We're all Carrie. Then I'm mainly Miranda with a touch of Charlotte thrown in (my past) and Samantha (my sometimes-present).

Does your life reflect any aspects of the SATC lifestyle?
I now own a humiliatingly large array of insanely high shoes.
