William Schmidt is a writer and Co-Executive Producer on "Carnivale." A veteran of episodic drama, and a former member of the WGA's Board of Directors, William was the creator and Executive Producer of the ABC-TV series, "Prey." He has also written and produced numerous telefilms, including "Evil In Clear River", winner of the Christopher Award, and "Darrow", starring Kevin Spacey, which was nominated for the Humanitas Prize.
William attended Northwestern University where he attained a B.A. in Creative Writing. It was at Northwestern that he first saw Clancy Brown act, in a Brecht play. Clancy spent the entire performance standing in a garbage can. William knew, then, that Clancy was going to be a star.
