Starting as an actor and director, David Knoller transitioned from in front to behind the camera on CBS Candid Camera Specials with Allen Funt. After years of comedy specials, live events, and music series, he eventually produced the critically acclaimed pilot Freaks and Geeks for NBC, and the Darren Star series Grosse Pointe. He has won awards for the HBO film America's Dream starring Danny Glover and Wesley Snipes, including the CableACE and NAACP Image award for Best Dramatic Special. Mr. Knoller produced the Martin Lawrence Feature Film You So Crazy.
As a director, his credits include Jesse with Christina Applegate and Grosse Pointe. He has developed original comedies and dramas as both a Producer and Senior Vice President of Programming at American Movie Classics. He has developed with Darren Star the FOX series pilot Kitchen Confidential, based on the book by Anthony Bourdain, and is producing the new HBO series Big Love starring Bill Paxton. David Knoller was born in Los Angeles, California. He is married to Friends and Joey Producer Wendy Knoller, and is the very proud father of two sons.
