Known for his aggressive style, accuracy, hand speed and staggering punch combinations, Vasyl "Hi-Tech" Lomachenko has quickly ascended the boxing ranks to become one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

The Ukrainian southpaw, whose father/trainer was an amateur boxer, grew up in the sport and dominated the amateur ranks, amassing a 396-1 record while winning two world championships and two Olympic gold medals (Beijing 2008, London 2012).

Lomachenko turned professional after the London Olympics, making his pro (and HBO PPV) debut in October 2013 with a resounding fourth-round knockout victory against Jose Ramirez. Lomachenko then demanded and received a title fight in just his second professional bout, squaring off against veteran Orlando Salido in May 2014 for the WBO Featherweight belt. Experience provided Salido the edge and, ultimately, a split-decision victory. But the lessons learned carried with the Ukrainian in his following fight when he defeated Gary Russell Jr. later that year for the featherweight title -- and in the process tied the record for the fastest to win a world title (alongside Saensak Muangsurin).

Lomachenko has since successfully defended his Featherweight title three times: in November 2014 via a dominant, unanimous-decision victory over Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo; in May 2015 by way of ninth-round knockout against Gamalier Rodriguez; and in November 2015 when he knocked out Romulo Koasicha with a crushing body shot in the 10th round.

In June 2016, Lomachenko moved up a weight class to challenge Roman Martinez for the 130-pound title at Madison Square Garden. Hi-Tech outclassed Martinez en route to a devastating fifth-round knockout victory - he outlanded the Puerto Rican 87 to 34, per CompuBox - winning the title to become the fastest boxer to claim a world title in two weight divisions.
