Manny Pacquiao Bio
Following his pro debut in January 1995, Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao has fought on to collect world titles in a record eight weight divisions. A unique combination of speed, power, athleticism and discipline allow Pacquiao to adapt to any style against his opposition.
A participant for the Philippines' national team as a teenager, Pacquiao won 60 amateur bouts before turning pro. Since 2001 he has trained under Freddie Roach.
He captured his first world title as a flyweight with an eighth-round knockout of Chatchai Sasakul in December 1998. Pacquiao defeated 122-pound world titlist Lehlo Ledwaba in June 2001 and set a date against Agapito Sanchez in his HBO debut that November.
After a November 2003 TKO win over Marco Antonio Barrera, Pacquiao scored a draw against Juan Manuel Marquez in his 2004 debut at the MGM Grand. Before meeting Marquez again four years later, he posted an 8-1 record with two victories over Erik Morales as well as another Barrera defeat. Pacquiao defeated Marquez by split decision and claimed a 130-pound world title in their March 2008 rematch at Mandalay Bay. Just three months later, he moved up in weight and defeated lightweight world titlist David Diaz to capture a world title in a fourth weight class. That December, he scored a knockout win over Oscar de la Hoya to finish the year 3-0.
In his 2009 debut, Pacquiao knocked out Ricky Hatton to claim a 140-pound world title in May and won a welterweight world title with an 11th-round TKO against Miguel Cotto in November. At Cowboys Stadium one year later, he defeated 154-pound world titlist Antonio Margarito by unanimous decision.
A May 2011 win against Shane Mosley organized a third fight against Marquez in November, resulting in a majority-decision Pacquiao win. He met undefeated Timothy Bradley in his 2012 debut, losing a controversial split decision. Six months later, he suffered a sixth-round knockout loss to Marquez in a fourth matchup.
Pacquiao returned with a unanimous-decision victory over Brandon Rios at Macao's Cotai Arena in November 2013. In a rematch of their 2012 bout, Pacquiao avenged his controversial loss to Bradley in April 2014 and dominated Chris Algieri with a unanimous-decision win that November.
He lost a unanimous-decision to Floyd Mayweather at the MGM Grand in May 2015.
