ARRIVAL AND PRESS CONFERENCE NOTES
- Great coverage on LA Times front page today. Very impressive. Everyone seems to be talking about this fight.
- Airport on the way in looks like they were preparing for the British invasion: Lines of crowd dividers and taxi stand separators. Clearly they are planning for a lot of people in town.
- Undercard for this event is also good to go. In particular Danny Jacobs, who I last saw live on the Mosley-Mayorga card. Fun. To. Watch.
- Historian Bert Sugar showed me a great photo shoot done with him, set to Edith Piaf. He showed it to two French journalists who both broke out in song. Stranger things have happened... Watch Bert over on YouTube
- Floyd Mayweather Sr's poem at the press conference was out of sight... We have the honor of including it here in full:
I am being for real and saying what I feel, This is the truest quote that I ever wrote, From the first to the last note, Hey Pac, Its over, so quit wishing on a four leaf clover, You got a choice to make,
You're at the cross roads, You gotta make up your mind, You can go right or you can go left, And you can't depend on nobody else, We need to do what we need to do It ain't personal between me and you, Come May 2nd, you will be uncrowned with your head hanging down, The pain and stress left to confess that the Hitman's the best, It aint no diggity it aint no doubt, Pac's gonna find out what its all about, When he beat the ol legend Oscar de la Hoy,
He was over the hill, Now its time for you to swallow the same damn pill, So get your tickets now peoples--and lets make it clear, That the Pacman ass woopin is almost here, It aint no secret and I hope you know, The Hitman Hatton by KO!
- Loved watching Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports do his thing on Twitter today right along with us at HBO... If you aren't following Kevin, go for it! Tell him I said hi. While you're at it, are you following HBO Boxing?
- HBO.com conducted a podcast interview with ESPN.com's Keiran Mulvaney and we'll be posting it first thing tomorrow morning. We've still got plenty of content to catch up on: Compubox Factors, Bert Sugar's Breakdown, an exclusive behind-the-scenes with Pacquiao's camp from our man David Larzalere.
- Also, be sure to check out Chuck Johnson's fight week reporting for HBO.com.
- Oh, did we mention there's a mega fight on Saturday night?
