In the beginning of the ninth round of a scheduled 12 rounds of boxing action, Julio Diaz decided not to continue the fight. Juan Diaz aquired another belt this evening, unifiying the lightweight title in an impressive display of agressive, offensive power. The young Houstan was able to deliver a one-sided bout, shocking Julio Diaz with non-stop punches that eventually drove the fighter into submission.
