As an actor, Michael Pitt is known for his unforgettable and gripping performances - working with some of the most talented filmmakers, such as Martin Scorsese, Gus Van Sant, Michael Haneke and Larry Clark.
Most recently, Pitt was seen opposite Tim Roth and Naomi Watts in 'Funny Games.' He also starred in Bernardo Bertolucci's cult classic film 'The Dreamers' opposite Eva Green. In 2007 Pitt starred opposite Keira Knightley in 'Silk' and 2006 marked Pitt's first collaboration with Steve Buscemi in 'Delirious.' His other film roles include Larry Clark's 'Bully,' Barbet Schroeder's thriller 'Murder by Numbers,' opposite Sandra Bullock, and M. Night Shyamalan's 'The Village.'
His early film work includes a breakout role in John Cameron Mitchell's 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch,' where he played the lover of a transgendered rock star, and Gus Van Sant's 'Finding Forrester.' Pitt collaborated again with Van Sant on 'The Last Days,' which was loosely based on the life story of Kurt Cobain.
Pitt made his off-Broadway debut in 'The Trestle' at Pope Lick Creek. He also starred on stage at Duke University in 'Birdy' and at Classic Stage Company in 'Monster.'
In addition to acting, Pitt also sings and plays guitar in his band Pagoda. He has lent his voice and has performed his own original music for several films, including 'The Last Days,' 'The Dreamers' and 'Shutter Island.'
