On Palin

I'm sure you've heard that your average hockey mom, Sarah Palin - went through $150,000 of Republican Party money to get a wardrobe. That's a lot of money to give Joe Sixpack a hard-on, don't you think? And, twenty grand just in makeup! The lipstick she puts on her pig cost $200 a tube! So, just to recap here, the Republican National Committee took money from hard-working Americans -right? They spent it on designer clothes and glasses and handbags for Sarah Palin so she could go out there on the stump and stop that bastard Obama from spreading the wealth. – Bill Maher

On the "B" Girl

Now, I'm sure you heard this story, the "B" girl, the young woman in Pittsburgh who got mugged yesterday. Works for the McCain campaign, claimed a big, scary black man attacked her at the ATM and then carved a "B" -a backwards "B" - in her face. Well, today, she admitted she made the whole thing up. I knew it! They can't fool me. There's no such thing as a McCain campaign... It is a little embarrassing, because on the campaign trail, McCain has already started referring to her in his speeches as "Joe Scratchface." No, I'm kidding about that, but he did call her. McCain called this "B" girl already, to offer his support. Palin called her to offer some support. And Karl Rove called to say, "You dumb-ass, you got the 'B' backwards!" – Bill Maher

On Why He Has Arrested for Campaign Dirty Tricks

I talk about dirty tricks, but in this instance, it was a crime. And in New Hampshire in 2002, what happened was I was contracted by the Republican National Committee to jam Democratic phone lines. So, there's only one thing that goes on, on election day, and that's getting out the vote. And, so those phone lines on election day were used to call people to remind them to vote, where to vote, incoming phone calls telling them where to vote, could they get a ride to the polls, that type of thing. And my job back then was to stop those phone lines from being able to make calls going out or coming in. And it was very effective for the bit of time that we did it. – Allen Raymond

On Fighting Voter Fraud

Refuse provisional ballots. They're throwing those out. They can throw those out. If that's your last resort, take it, but fight in the polling place to vote. It's your right as an American. You have every right to vote if you're registered. And if you're not on the rolls and something went wrong, document it. Video cameras at polls are going to be an effective way to fight this election day. – Tim Robbins

On Race and the Election

Race will make no difference in this race... It hasn't existed in the last ten or fifteen years. Actually, John McCain's age is a bigger problem than Barack Obama's race in this race. – Matt Dowd

On Fighting Dirty

The Republicans know how to fight dirty, and they know that if they have any chance at all, they've got to pull it out now. So, they'll do anything. I mean, it's starting this week with, "Oh, Obama's, you know, a socialist." "He was seen on the grassy knoll." "He abducted Natalee Holloway." "His grandmother's not really gravely ill; it's just a case of the sniffles." You know, they'll do anything at this point to take whatever yahoo they can that will latch onto anything. – Carol Leifer

On McCain

You know, to me, the situation has become sad actually, because the John McCain of eight years ago - which, when he lost his rudder, when he started going to Jerry Falwell and doing all that stuff after 2000, thinking the only way he could win is do that which, in the end, actually is going to defeat him. And then saying he supported Bush's tax cuts after he voted against the tax cuts? When you lose your rudder, then you're susceptible to every wave in the sea, every push by anybody else, when you have no rudder to where you want to go. – Matt Dowd

On the Economy

Well, what's really happened here, if you want to see it, it's the stock market that's really gone first. Now, the economy has not really gone full tilt. Stock markets are forward looking. If you think the economy has been bad for the last couple of years, just wait until you see next year and the year after. Unfortunately, I mean, you are seeing a pile-on. If you look at how much they've raised the national debt, if you've looked at all the deficits coming, you know, the implications are that you've got to collect money for these things. You'll have slowdowns in revenues that's huge. – Arthur Laffer
