| PVT. Johnnie A. Walker was an African American who enlisted November 6, 1943. He served in France, England, and Beligum. He won two Bronze Stars and one medal for the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign. I have no idea why he got these medals, but I am sure it was done in the defense of his country. His discharge papers said he guarded prisoners of war.
I heard stories of how the African American troops were treated and how most say they were never recognized for their efforts. This is my offering in honor of my father. |
