Belle of Them All
In 1908, a fire broke out on Belle Gunness's pig farm in Indiana. Gunness, a widow with a penchant for attracting men who disappeared after meeting her, herself disappeared after the fire. Amidst the ashes, shocked police found the bodies of ten folks who turned out to have been killed by strychnine and arsenic.

For 23 years they searched for Belle - in vain. Then, in 1931, authorities investigating the slaying deaths of several men captured 72-year-old Esther Carlson, the infamous "Black Widow," but the woman died before standing trial. Guess what the cops found in an old steamer trunk at Esther's home?
