The Telltale Imprint
In a small bank in CA, a 1979 robbery was caught on tape by surveillance cameras. The perpetrator appeared to be a black woman who ran into a glass door on her way out of the building.

But a tip steered police to a man named Jonathan Jackson, who was brought to the station and made to apply lipstick. A print of Jackson's lips matched the one left on the glass door (seen below). Instead of getting away with robbery, Jackson (seen in drag above, and in his mug shot, right) got ten years in jail.
