The Attica Prison Riots
In one of the most controversial investigations of his career, Dr. Baden proved that during the September 1971 riots at Attica State Prison, 13 hostages were killed by bullets shot by state troopers (seen right), not (as prison officials claimed) by inmates slashing their throats.
Baden's findings caused a public uproar, and helped lead to major reforms in the prison system.

A bullet hole (seen left) is clearly seen in the back of this Attica hostage victim.
