Joan Bent
In February 1986, the frozen body of 47-year-old Bent was found in the trunk of her car, the victim of strangulation . Interviewed later, her husband claimed that on the night she was last seen alive, Joan left home for work at 6:30 p.m. following dinner at 4:30.

However, Dr. Baden discovered several intact potato fragments in Bent's stomach (seen right), indicating she had died within a half hour after eating. Based on this evidence, the husband was convicted of murder; he later confessed he'd strangled his wife on learning she was filing for divorce.
